(2) The City of York unitary authority area is approximately 272 km², not 33.7 km² — 33.7 km² paired with a population of 202,800 implies an implausible ~6,000/km² density; 33.7 km² may be a mislabeled built-up-area figure. Flagged, not resolved. Major employers include the City of York Council (7,500-plus employees), Aviva, Network Rail, Northern Trains, York Hospitals NHS Trust, and the University of York (each 2,000-plus staff), alongside BT Group, Nestlé, and NFU Mutual.
