Sweden — Regional Market index
The Sweden regional market index lists the 32 Swedish markets that meet the co-location system's composition gates — the largest Nordic entry and the fifth-largest country entry in the European set. The 32 markets run from Täby, on Stockholm's northern edge, to Sundsvall and Luleå on the Gulf of Bothnia, a spread of more than 320 kilometres in recorded reference distance.
Coverage
No rank or score is published for any market in this table. Every market below qualifies under the framework's Regional Market composition gate — a hypermarket anchor paired with at least two of {hardware, price club, lifestyle, electronics, sport} across the market's co-location clusters. Full methodology: Regional Markets Intelligence System.
The metropolitan reference point recorded for each market is the nearest major metropolitan centre in the framework's continental reference set — a straight-line (crow-flies) distance measurement, not a drive-time or commuting estimate. It is not a claim that the market functions as a commuter suburb of that centre. Twenty-one of Sweden's 32 reference points sit within Sweden itself — Stockholm for 16 entries and Gothenburg for five. The remaining 11 cross a border: three to Copenhagen, Denmark, three to Oulu, Finland, two to Oslo, Norway, and one each to Turku and Tampere in Finland and Trondheim in Norway. Sweden's median reference distance is 136 kilometres, among the longest in the European set, and 15 of its 32 markets sit beyond 150 kilometres from their reference point. This follows from how sparsely major metropolitan centres are spaced across northern Scandinavia, not from a data gap.
Catchment population has not been computed for any of the 32 Swedish markets in the current dataset build — Sweden is one of six European countries without this figure in the 2026-08-07 release, alongside Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland, Norway, and Romania. This is a disclosed gap in the underlying source data, stated plainly rather than presented as zero.
Cluster composition
The 32 markets carry 42 co-location clusters between them — 32 Tier 1, six Tier 2, and four Tier 3. Thirty of the 32 carry at least one Tier 1 cluster; no Swedish market qualifies on Tier 3 clusters alone.
