Each entry is a named suburb or satellite municipality between 15 and 80 kilometres of a major Italian metropolitan reference point that contains at least one retail co-location cluster, qualified under the co-location regional market framework. Metropolitan groupings
Italy's 21 markets cluster most heavily around Milan (5 markets), reflecting the density of the Po Valley's suburban industrial and retail belt. Verona (3), Bologna (2), Rome (2), and Bari (2) form a second tier. The remaining markets are single entries reporting to Turin, Genoa, Venice, Messina, Naples, Florence, and Trieste — giving Italy the widest geographic spread relative to its market count of any of the seven country breakout pages on this list.
Tier composition
Asti (suburb of Turin) is Italy's only Tier 1 market carrying a civic anchor. Eighteen of Italy's 21 markets qualify on a single Tier 1 cluster with no civic anchor, the most common composition across the entire European set. Lucca and Como qualify on a Tier 2+Tier 3 combination.
