Osijek recorded 96,313 residents at the 2021 census, on the southern bank of the Drava River. <!--

important military centre in the province of Pannonia; it was first recorded under its current
name in 1196. Osijek suffered extensive damage during the 1990s Croatian War of Independence but

Baroque landmarks including the 18th-century Tvrđa citadel.
