## Overview

According to Wikipedia (accessed 2026-07-10), Järfälla municipality had 89,827 residents as
of June 2025 across 63.02 square kilometres, a density of 1,669 people per square kilometre,
roughly 20 kilometres north of Stockholm in Stockholm County. Commuter rail connections
reach downtown Stockholm in approximately 20 minutes. The municipality expanded
substantially in the 1930s and 1940s, developing into a suburban commuter community centred
on the administrative seat of Jakobsberg; population grew from 49,261 in 1970 to nearly
90,000 by 2025. As of December 2017, approximately 40.6 percent of residents had a foreign
background, with the largest non-Nordic communities from Iraq, Iran, and Syria, alongside
Finnish and Polish populations. A metro expansion to Barkarby station and the developing
Barkarbystaden district is scheduled for completion in 2027, adding to the municipality's
three existing commuter rail stations and integrated bus network.
