The **Romania regional market index** lists the 13 Romanian markets that meet the co-location
system's composition gates under the current 2026-08-07 dataset. Five of the 13 sit in
Transylvania and reference Cluj-Napoca; the rest are distributed across Wallachia, Moldavia,
and the Banat rather than clustering on a single metropolitan core.

No rank or score is published for any market in this table. Every market below qualifies under
the framework's Regional Market composition gate — a hypermarket anchor paired with at least
two of {hardware, price club, lifestyle, electronics, sport} across the market's co-location

The metropolitan reference point recorded for each market is the nearest major metropolitan
centre in the framework's continental reference set — a straight-line (crow-flies) distance
measurement, not a drive-time or commuting estimate. It is not a claim that the market
functions as a commuter suburb of that centre. Every one of Romania's 13 reference points sits
within Romania itself — Cluj-Napoca for five entries, Bucharest for four, and Timișoara and
Brașov for two each. No Romanian market references a metropolitan centre across a border.
Romania's median reference distance is 100 kilometres, and no market sits within 50 kilometres
of its reference point — the second-highest minimum in the European set after Croatia.

Catchment population has not been computed for any of the 13 Romanian markets in the current
dataset build — Romania is one of six European countries without this figure in the 2026-08-07
release, alongside Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. This is a disclosed gap in
the underlying source data, stated plainly rather than presented as zero.
