short_description: "Index of Mexico's 46 Regional Markets meeting the co-location composition gates under the 2026-08-07 dataset."
paired_with: markets/atlas-mexico.es.md
---

The **Mexico regional market index** lists the 46 Mexican markets that meet the co-location
system's composition gates under the current 2026-08-07 dataset. The 46 markets span the
country from Ensenada and Playas de Rosarito on the Baja California border to Tapachula on the
Guatemalan frontier, and carry the longest recorded reference distances in either continental
set.

## Coverage

No rank or score is published for any market in this table. Every market below qualifies under
the framework's Regional Market composition gate — a hypermarket anchor paired with at least
two of {hardware, price club, lifestyle, electronics, sport} across the market's co-location
clusters. Full methodology:
[[about-regional-markets-system|Regional Markets Intelligence System]].

The metropolitan reference point recorded for each market is the nearest major metropolitan
centre in the framework's continental reference set — a straight-line (crow-flies) distance
measurement, not a drive-time or commuting estimate. It is not a claim that the market
functions as a commuter suburb of that centre. Every one of Mexico's 46 reference points sits
within Mexico itself, spread across 16 distinct metropolitan centres — Mexico City for eight
entries, and Guadalajara, Hermosillo, Monterrey, Oaxaca, and Puebla for four each. No Mexican
market references a centre across a border, though Mexican centres serve as reference points
for three United States markets in the same set. Mexico's median reference distance is 152
kilometres against 75 for the United States and 90 for Canada, and its longest — 694 kilometres
— is the greatest recorded distance anywhere in the published set.

Catchment population and consumer-spend figures are recorded for all 46 Mexican markets, with
no gaps. They are descriptive context only and take no part in selection.

## Cluster composition

The 46 markets carry 115 co-location clusters between them — 54 Tier 1, three Tier 2, and 58
Tier 3. Mexico is the only country in either continental set where Tier 3 clusters outnumber
Tier 1. Forty-five of the 46 carry at least one Tier 1 cluster, so the Tier 3 weight reflects
additional single-anchor clusters alongside a qualifying Tier 1 core rather than a weaker
qualification basis.
